Join a committee - it's community involvement with purpose

workforce-dev-committeeSTRENGTHENING THE ECONOMY - Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce (KKCC) is committed to strengthening the economy and promoting the community. The committees of the KKCC provide opportunities for Chamber members who wish to promote the overall mission of the organization with a team of people who care. Members can align their interests to topics such as economic development, education and workforce development, marketing, membership, or sustainability. Join a Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce Committee for community involvement with a purpose!

Economic Development

  • Schedule: Meets the third Tuesday of each month at 11:30 am
  • Mission: To create a beneficial economic environment for the West Hawai‘i business community.
  • Current Project: Finalizing KKCC legislative priorities to prepare for advocacy on topics such as the Kona International Airport, Ocean Recreation Tourism, Workforce Development, Health Care and more.

Education and Workforce Development

  • Schedule: Meets the second Wednesday of each month at 10:00 am
  • Mission: To facilitate connections between the education and business communities that promote opportunities for the development of Hawai‘i Island’s existing and future workforce.
  • Current Project: Developing the next phase of a workforce needs project, Pohā Ka Lama, with job seekers as the target audience for the study.


  • Schedule: Meets the first Thursday of each month at 9:00 am
  • Mission: To effectively communicate with Chamber members and the community at large the varied events, activities and goals of the Chamber.
  • Current Project: Launching the refreshed logo. Promoting the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce with radio promotions and TV spots.

MembershipEducation Committee2016

  • Schedule: Meets the first Wednesday of each month at 9:00 am
  • Mission: To increase the membership of the Chamber and assist in providing quality networking opportunities and events that support and uphold the Chamber mission, vision and objectives.
  • Current Projects: Continuing the excellent work of the Ambassador Program and improving the operational procedures to effectively retain and recruit members.


  • Schedule: Meets the first Wednesday of each month at 2:00 pm
  • Mission: To promote sustainable and environmentally responsible business practices and environmental stewardship.
  • Current Projects: Re-launching the Kuleana Green Business Program and planning a Green Business Expo in April 2017. Exploring the Aloha+ Challenge and working to align these goals with the committee’s objectives.
