Getting Excited for Bid for Hawai'i with Tommy Mason
Tommy Mason, owner and operator of Mason Termite & Pest Control, is a big fan of the Chamber’s annual holiday fundraiser, Bid for Hawai‘i. This year, the online auction will run from November 22 – December 12. On Wednesday, Dec. 13, a live auction will be held during AfterHours at Big Island Collision Center, co-hosted by Big Island Collision Center, Mason Termite & Pest Control and Dickinson General Contracting.
What is your favorite part of Bid for Hawai‘i?
Finding out if you won something at the end of the auction is the part of Bid for Hawai‘i that I find the most exciting. If there is an item that you really want, you keep a close eye on it. That way, if anyone else bids on it, you can take care of your end by stepping in to make a higher bid before the end of the auction.
How do you recommend that people participate in Bid for Hawai‘i?
Depending on your personality, there is something for everyone at Bid for Hawai‘i. For people who are not so outspoken, the silent online auction is the best opportunity to be anonymous so that other people won’t know what you are up to. If you are more outspoken, the live auction is exciting and has a lot of energy.
Which donated items are the most exciting to bid on?
I’m most excited about the prizes that allow people to get away, while also contributing to a great cause. One-, two- and three-night stays at hotels are my favorite auction items. I look for anything that allows me to spend fun time with my family like water sports, Disneyland or other family activities.
